چکیده

We give a simple proof of the OSSS inequality (O’Donnell, Saks, Schramm, Servedio, FOCS 2005). The inequality states that for any decision tree T calculating a Boolean function f : {0,1} → {−1,1}, we have Var[ f ]≤ ∑i δi(T ) Infi( f ), where δi(T ) is the probability that the input variable xi is read by T and Infi( f ) is the influence of the ith variable on f . Decision trees and transient stability of electric power systems

A general inductive inference method is proposed and applied to the automatic building of decision trees for the transient stability assessment of power systems. On the basis of large sets of simulations, the essential features of the method are analysed and illustrated. Al~lraet-An inductive inference method for the automatic building of decision trees is investigated. Among its various tasks,...

Top-down induction of logical decision trees

Top-down induction of decison trees (TDIDT) is a very popular machine learning technique. Up till now, it has mainly used for propositional learning, but seldomly for relational learning or inductive logic programming. The main contribution of this paper is the introduction of logic decision trees, which make it possible to use TDIDT in inductive logic programming. An implementation of this top...

The Organizational Adoption of Open Source Server Software: A Quantitative Study

Despite the attention that open source software (OSS) has received, relatively little is known about the factors which influence the decision of an organization on whether to adopt OSS or not. Although much anecdotal evidence has been published on this topic in practitioner literature, these claims have been insufficiently validated. Although some qualitative studies on the organizational adopt...
